Don't buy health insurance till you read this...

As a consumer, you have a right, and even more than that a responsibility to thoroughly inspect a plan's features and benefits, to ensure it meets your minimum criterion.

Whether you're planning on buying through your employer, or simply as an individual you should always be aware of what is and isn't covered under the plan.

You should also have a good idea of what would happen financially in the event of the many different health scenarios that could take place, from Cancer, to Broken limbs, and more that could leave you out of work for months, or completely devastated and unable to return to work.

The best thing to do is run the numbers, and see how different deductibles would play in your favor or against. make sure you're very familiar with the plan's deductible, covered services, and out-of-pocket limits.

Health insurance consumers should also make sure they are aware of the preventative care covered under your plan. For example - when does the plan start covering mammograms for women, and at what age does it cover prostate exams?

Does the plan offer a website with information on different diseases and illnesses?

What types of maternity plans or dental plans do they offer?

How much do they cover in the way of prescriptions? Does it pay for the drugs you need such as Birth Control, or Weight loss?

Does the plan offer any counselling or support services, or drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment services?

Knowing beforehand what to expect can save you a ton of pain and heartache, when things go wrong with your health. As the scout motto indicates, it's definitely a good thing to 'Be Prepared'. If you would like a Medicare Quote visit MedicarePlansToday.com
